The Police and Policing Youth Manual is a groundbreaking, youth-led educational resource designed to transform how young people understand, interact with, and perceive policing in the UK. Created through 12 collaborative sessions with African and Caribbean youth aged 18-25, this manual represents authentic youth voices and addresses real concerns about police-community relations.

​About the Project

​The manual is the flagship output of the "Engaging and Recruiting African and Caribbean Youth with an Appetite for a Policing Career" project, funded by the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and delivered by The Mentoring Lab Community CIC in partnership with the London Metropolitan Police.Project Highlights

• Met Talks Symposium "100 Youth with One Voice": 75 young people participated in five interactive workshops covering communication with police, social history, police conduct, neurodiversity and stop and search, and AI in policing
• Youth Council Established: 12 young leaders formed an advisory panel to guide the project
• Mentoring Support: Six one-to-one mentoring sessions provided to five young people, with two referred to specialist counselling services
• Youth Leadership Development: Participants developed skills in public speaking, policy review, conflict resolution, and emotional intelligence
